Make Gmail To Load Faster: Part 1

Gmail, an email service from Google and you are using it from a long time. Gmail is one of the most widely used and popular email service. It provides you simple yet powerful interface and functionality to deal with your day to day email communication. Modern Gmail comes with an eye candy interface and with great features. Of course, Gmail works smoothly on most of modern browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox. But still on other hand, on slow internet connection then Gmail takes a huge time to load. Sometime even on fast internet connections, Gmail keeps on showing “Still Working” for a long time. So here are some tricks to make your Gmail faster and quicker.

1. Reduce maximum page size

Gmail by default loads 50 email threads as soon as you log in into your account. So Gmail servers may take some amount of time to collect information about all those 50 emails. If you have enabled priority inbox then Gmail may take more amount of time. If you reduce this number, say to 25 i.e. half of default, then Gmail will take less amount of time to load.

You can change maximum page size from Settings then General and then Maximum page size.

2. Keep your inbox classic

Whenever you loads Gmail, Gmail servers try to classify messages on your inbox as important or not important. This classification process needs a lot of processing power which adds a countable amount of load on Gmail servers. So if you are not using Gmail’s priority inbox then switch to classic inbox. This will reduce load on Gmail servers. So your loading time will get decreased and your Gmail will became faster and quicker.

You can find options for switching to classic Gmail inbox in Settings then Inbox and then Inbox type. From drop down list select Classic.

3. E Mail not needed? Delete it or move it

Time taken to load your inbox is also depends on the number of mails present in your account. If your account contains a huge number of mails then Gmail may take a lot of time to load your inbox. So if there are unwanted mails present in your account, delete them. There is an another option also, you can install a standalone email program like Windows live mail or Thunderbird and can move unimportant emails from your Gmail to your local hard drive.

4. Disable Web Clips

As you know Gmail come with a lot of features and one of them is Web Clips. Web Clips are noting but short news headlines which are shown on top of your inbox and messages. If you don’t need them, turn them off.

You can turn off Web Clips from Settings then Web Clips and then uncheck Show my web clips above the inbox.

5. Turn off lab features

Gmail labs allows you to add more features on your Gmail account. They are good and useful but they sometimes take too much time to load. It is better to turn off all those lab features which you don’t use. Turning off unnecessary features will certainly decrease your load time. You can turn off Lab features by navigating to Settings then Labs and then Disable unwanted features.
