Make Gmail To Load Faster: Part 2

1. Use https://

Gmail works on https always to provide security to your data while transferring it between Gmail servers and your machine. So even though you are on http, Gmail will take you on https automatically. But this switching process (from http to https) requires redirect. Which further need nearly 2-3 seconds of time. So if you want to gain those 2-3 second then directly type https://gmail.com or bookmark the login page for feature use.

2. Go with basic HTML mode

Gmail comes with two modes. One is based on AJAX which do provides a lot of advance functionality and another one is Basic HTML mode. Whenever you are in basic HTML mode, Gmail will not load heavy features. Which will lead to a faster Gmail experience. You can switch between HTML and Advance mode by using options shown on the loading screen of Gmail.

3. Go with mobile version

Of course this is not a good trick, but if your internet connection is worst and you are not able to load even basic interface of Gmail then you can go for mobile version of Gmail. You can navigate to “m.gmail.com” to load mobile version. Mobile version of Gmail is very basic and optimized for mobile experience and it do not provide much functionality.

4. Disable unnecessary browser extensions

If you are using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, then most probably you will be having a lots of browser extensions installed for different purposes. This browser extensions sometime adds load on your system. Consider disabling them if they are not in use. This will increase your overall browsing experience.

5. Turn off lab features

If you feel that you are on low speed internet connection and you will face problems while loading Gmail due to lab features then you can turn them off by navigating to url https://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0. This will simply load Gmail without any lab extension.

6. Disable browser checking

Whenever you log in into your Gmail account, Gmail try to check various browser parameters. And according to it, Gmail tries to adapt itself. This checking and processing may take some time. If you want to load Gmail faster then you can bypass this checking by adding  ‘?nocheckbrowser‘ in url. So your new url is http://mail.google.com/gmail?nocheckbrowser.

7. Clear your browser cache

Of course, if your browser cache is full then you may face problems while loading websites. So it is always better to clear your browser cache each time before closing your browser.
